Overview

Marrakech rewards those who know where to look. With a private guide, you see the city's great monuments without queuing in the wrong place, and you discover the corners of the medina you would never find alone: a quiet fondouk, a spice merchant, a carpenter at work.

The tour is built around your interests and your pace. Choose the full day for the complete picture, or a half day (morning or afternoon) if you are short on time.

Highlights

  • Bahia Palace, its painted ceilings and gardens
  • The 16th-century Saadian Tombs
  • The Koutoubia Mosque and its gardens
  • Jemaa el-Fna square and the souks with a local guide
  • Majorelle Garden, once owned by Yves Saint Laurent (optional)

Full day (half day possible)

Itinerary

  1. Morning: palaces and the royal past

Meet your guide at your riad or hotel. Start with the Bahia Palace, a 19th-century residence of carved cedar, zellige tiles and orange-tree courtyards, then the Saadian Tombs, the resting place of the 16th-century Saadian dynasty. Continue to the Koutoubia Mosque, whose minaret has been the city's landmark since the 12th century, and its gardens.

  2. Afternoon: the living medina

After lunch, walk to Jemaa el-Fna, the great square where musicians, storytellers and food stalls gather. Your guide then leads you through the souks, quarter by quarter: dyers, leather workers, lantern makers, spice sellers. It is the best way to shop without getting lost or overpaying.

  3. Optional: Majorelle Garden

End the day in the cobalt-blue Majorelle Garden, created by the painter Jacques Majorelle and later restored by Yves Saint Laurent, a cool, peaceful contrast to the medina.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a private tour?

Yes. You travel only with your own group, in a private vehicle with your driver-guide, and the timing adapts to you.

Can I do only half a day?

Yes. The half-day tour covers either the morning part (palaces, tombs, Koutoubia) or the afternoon part (Jemaa el-Fna and the souks). Tell us which you prefer.

Is Majorelle Garden included?

It is optional, because tickets often need to be booked ahead. Let us know when you enquire and we will fit it into the day.
