Overview
Essaouira, the Pearl of the Atlantic, is a whitewashed medina wrapped in sea walls, with blue fishing boats bobbing in the harbour and a long sandy beach. Its old town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its pace is the perfect contrast to Marrakech.
On the way, the road crosses argan country, where goats famously climb the trees, and we stop at a women's cooperative that produces argan oil.

Itinerary
Morning pick-up
Your driver picks you up from your riad or hotel. On the way, stop to see the famous tree-climbing goats and visit an argan oil cooperative run by Berber women.
The medina
In Essaouira, wander the lanes of the medina at your own pace, lined with artisans, galleries and souks.
Port and ramparts
Head to the fishing port to watch the boats come in, then walk along the ramparts of the Skala for the view over the ocean and the old town.
Seafood lunch
Choose your fish at the port stalls or sit down in a restaurant overlooking the harbour.
Beach and return
Take a walk on the beach before your driver drives you back to Marrakech in the late afternoon.
