Colourful houses and fishing boats on the beach of Taghazout

Waves and sunsets

Taghazout, Morocco's surf village

A relaxed fishing village north of Agadir with some of the best surf in Morocco, colourful houses and long Atlantic sunsets.

Taghazout is a small fishing village on the Atlantic coast, about 20 km north of Agadir, that has become Morocco's surf capital. Its point breaks, such as Anchor Point, attract surfers from all over the world, while its sheltered beaches are perfect for beginners.

What to do

  • Take a surf lesson with local instructors, whatever your level.
  • Walk along the beach and the cliffs at sunset.
  • Try a yoga session facing the ocean.
  • Eat grilled fish fresh from the boats in the village.

When to go

The best waves come from October to April. Summer is calmer, which suits beginners. Taghazout is part of our 5-day coastal tour, combined with Marrakech and Essaouira.
