Imlil and the Atlas Mountains in a day
A guided walk among Berber villages and waterfalls at the foot of Mount Toubkal, with lunch at our guide’s home.
Peaks and Berber valleys
Mount Toubkal, terraced Berber villages and green valleys, an hour from Marrakech and a world away from the city.
The High Atlas rises just south of Marrakech, and on a clear day you can see its snowy peaks from the city. Its valleys are home to Amazigh (Berber) villages built in earth and stone, terraced fields of barley and walnut trees, and mule trails that have linked them for centuries.
Imlil, at the foot of Mount Toubkal, and the Ourika Valley with its waterfalls are both easy day trips from Marrakech. You can also join a Berber family for a cooking class in a mountain village.
The Atlas is serious trekking country. Climb Mount Toubkal (4,167 m), the highest peak in North Africa, in four days, or go further with a six-day trek to Mount M'Goun (4,068 m) from the Ait Bouguemez valley.
Spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November) are ideal. Summer is fine at altitude but hot in the valleys; in winter the high peaks are snowy and need proper equipment.

Damask roses, red-earth villages and narrow gorges in the valley of Kelaat M’Gouna, between the Atlas and the desert.
Morocco’s second-highest summit from the green “Happy Valley” of Ait Bouguemez, with river camps and the Ait Imi gorge.
Our home base
Souks, palaces and gardens, and Jemaa el-Fna coming alive at dusk. Our team lives here, and almost every journey starts here.
The Sahara
The tallest dunes in Morocco, camel treks at sunset and nights in a desert camp under a sky full of stars.
The desert next door
A rocky desert of rolling hills 45 minutes from Marrakech, with the Atlas on the horizon: perfect for a sunset, a camel ride or a night in a camp.
